Respect and Obedience to Human Authority

"Blakeman overlooks the simple truth that you can respect the office only as much as the incumbent does.  If the officeholder violates public trust, which can occur in any number of ways, from leaping on interns to appointing cronies to extralegal positions, the question of respect as such becomes moot.  Some behavior cannot and should not be tolerated.  If it were Caligula and Cesare Borgia in the Oval Office, I'm quite sure that Blakeman would not call for abject respect for either.  Obama, to be just, is comparable to neither of them in iniquity, but the principle holds.  You may call it an exaggeration for effect, the literary version of Ryan's action."

This is why I talk the way I do about politicians; because they violate the trust of the people and they themselves do not respect the office they hold; if anything they abuse it.

You want to throw scripture at me and say I’m wrong? Okay, let's roll...

You may say to me; “For the Lord’s sake, respect all human authority—whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.” ~ 1 Peter 2:13-14

I’ll bite, and further say you are…partially correct. Read that scripture again, then tell me what you failed to mention. I’ll wait…

Find it yet? No? I’ll give you a bit more time.

Clearly, you’re not going to find it, so let me help you out. In order for a king to send those he appoints out to punish those who do wrong and honor those who do right, that king must be a just king able to rightly divide right from wrong (and in this day and age of moral relativism, acknowledge that there is even such a thing as “right and wrong”). The scripture just old us that 1) God (Christ) has appointed him and; 2) it is legitimate that a king can appoint others to help him…in a just manner.

Where do you see Barack Obama or ANY of these parasites in D.C. 1) actually “governing” and; 2) “governing justly”?

Keep in mind, just because God (Christ) has appointed someone doesn’t mean that such a person will always obey God or obey God at all. Saul was appointed to be king over Israel, because the people wanted it, and he did not always obey God. In fact, he became a failed king…because he wouldn’t obey God anymore after a time.

But, moving along.

Here are just four separate accounts in the Bible where people have stood up against a corrupt “governing” body, so that they could obey God:

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

“’But there are some Jews—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—whom you have put in charge of the province of Babylon. They pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They refuse to serve your gods and do not worship the gold statue you have set up.’
Then Nebuchadnezzar flew into a rage and ordered that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought before him. When they were brought in, Nebuchadnezzar said to them, ‘Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you refuse to serve my gods or to worship the gold statue I have set up? I will give you one more chance to bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power?’”

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.’” ~Daniel 3:12-18

Peter and John

“While Peter and John were speaking to the people, they were confronted by the priests, the captain of the Temple guard, and some of the Sadducees. These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a resurrection of the dead. They arrested them and, since it was already evening, put them in jail until morning. But many of the people who heard their message believed it, so the number of believers now totaled about 5,000 men, not counting women and children.
The next day the council of all the rulers and elders and teachers of religious law met in Jerusalem. Annas the high priest was there, along with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and other relatives of the high priest. They brought in the two disciples and demanded, ‘By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?’”

“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers and elders of our people, are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead. For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,’”

“‘The stone that you builders rejected
      has now become the cornerstone.’”

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.’”

“The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say. So they ordered Peter and John out of the council chamber and conferred among themselves.”

“’What should we do with these men?’ they asked each other. ‘We can’t deny that they have performed a miraculous sign, and everybody in Jerusalem knows about it. But to keep them from spreading their propaganda any further, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in Jesus’ name again.’ So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.’”

“But Peter and John replied, ‘Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him? We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.’”

“The council then threatened them further, but they finally let them go because they didn’t know how to punish them without starting a riot. For everyone was praising God” ~Acts 4:1-21

Stephen

Stephen’s account is too long to post, just read Acts 6:8 through 7:60.

Jesus

And last, but certainly not least, Jesus Christ

"Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. He said to them, 'The Scriptures declare, 'My Temple will be called a house of prayer, but you have turned it into a den of thieves!''" ~Matthew 21:12-13

John’s account tells us that Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. Why? Because they were corrupting God’s law of His Temple and the law of sacrifices; how they should be bought, sold, and otherwise handled.

Jesus would further stand up to the Sanhedrin on numerous occasions when they tried to deceive him by twisting and abusing the scriptures.

My point is simple; when those that God (Christ) has appointed to govern obey God and do justly, then they should be respected and obeyed. But, when those that God (Christ) appoints refuse to obey Him…then why do you expect us to obey them? If they are not following Jesus, then they are following Satan. And, I will not follow Satan.

Obama is corrupt and evil (don’t give me that “not evil, just wrong” slogan, he is evil) and he demands what he has not earned by abusing the public office he has no business holding.

In Christ, for Christ,
